Ustadha Doaa Ali

Doaa Ali is an educator, Qur’an and Tajweed teacher, and lifelong learner whose work brings together traditional learning, creativity and personal growth.

With over 15 years of teaching experience, she holds a B.A. in Arts from Cairo University and a B.A. in Arabic & Islamic Studies. She is a certified Qur’an teacher and holds an Ijazah in the recitation of Hafs ‘an ‘Asim with an authentic chain of transmission (isnad). She is also continuing her studies in the recitation of Warsh ‘an Nafi‘.

Alongside her Qur’an studies, she has studied Arabic nasheed and the foundations of Arabic maqamat, exploring their use in traditional Arabic vocal practice and nasheed.

Her educational background includes studies in Qur’an, Tajweed, Islamic spirituality and traditional Islamic sciences, alongside diplomas in teaching Arabic and Qur’an to non-native speakers. She has taught women and students in the UK and internationally, supporting learners at different stages of their Qur’an journey.

Since 2017, her own learning journey has expanded into traditional and handcraft arts, including Islamic ornamentation, gilding, jewellery-making in copper and polymer clay, and working with clay and plaster. She is currently continuing her studies in Maghribi, Mabsut and Andalusi calligraphy.

For Doaa, being a teacher has never meant ceasing to be a student. Curiosity, learning and discovery remain at the heart of her work — and ultimately became part of the vision from which Nabta grew.
